I think you are right. Didn't it just get axed in europe? That may lend some credence to the iSight in the Cinema Displays.

If they put an iSight in the Cinema Displays and axe the stand alone iSight that would mean you would have to buy an ACD just to use the video stuff with the Powermac/Mac pro AND the mini. I wouldn't put it past them to do that but it would kinda suck. There have also been rumors of the IR reciever for Front Row being put in the ACD. If they didn't also put one on the Mac Pro, Front Row would be useless without an ACD hooked up. I agree with the above poster that we are all reading too much into the poster but oh well, it's fun. We'll all find out soon enough.

How about, "we want to invest in the US!"

    Sheeeez!

There should be a law that states anytime a US company chooses to manufacture something outside the US, the company must post a clearly-articulated-less-than-25-page document stating AND COMPARING why the US is unable to manufacture said product.

"Oh, also, a slogan for the show: Theres something in the air. My guess is its an AirPort-enabled network backup storage device for Time Machine."

maybe its just me but that seems a bit......... unexciting to base the entire theme of a macworld on.

IRONIC as facebook could clearly benefit themselves on a more strict app approval system. There's so much spam on there these days. People's accounts getting hacked, sending messages with trojan links to everyone.

And the iPhone app itself pretty much sucks anyway so a new developer would be a good thing

Yes, thank you for pretty much explaining the irony.

Facebook is currently a mess. People on my feed complain about changes every day and several had their accounts hacked into and were sending those viruses out. One day, I could only use Firefox to sign into Facebook. Safari wouldn't work at all. The next day, Facebook fixed it, but still, that's pretty bad.

Therefor, I'm glad Apple is being tough on Facebook.

Who the hell would want all those problems on their iPhone too?

I'm not defending the Apple submission process by the way.
Obviously, it has some issues, but I'm going to take Apple's side on this one considering how many problems Facebook has had recently.

As I eagerly await delivery of my first iPad, I know that I want an iPod that will only play music. When I am exercising, I don't want to receive phone calls or emails, I just want music, and I want a device that will hold all of my 12,145 songs, with room to grow.

    I don't needs apps, I don't want communication...I just want music.

    future post:

Well now that i have an iPod that can hold all my music, and runs great apps, I am even happier!
You don't have to setup e-mail on it if you don't want to ;)

It sure would suck if you need matching ID and company credentials to get your pass - like they do with CES.

    From the FAQ:

You will be required to present your passport or other government-issued photo identification before being admitted to WWDC. Please make sure you bring your identification with you, as you will not be admitted without it.

    and

Conference badges are not transferable. The full conference fee will be charged to replace a lost badge.

When you register you get an activation code. I think any other Dev can use it because I purchased mine with my MobileMe account and then activated it with my ADC account. Those accounts are not linked as far as I know.

I'm fine with Best Buy... but Radio Shack & Toys "R" Us, not so much.

Seriously, who cares who sells them? Do they affect how you live? This cracks me up. No matter who sells them, we all have to get up and go to work and live our lives.

Doesn't matter where Apple sells its products. Better to make your products available everywhere than in just one or two specific stores. Remember: Not every city has an Apple store and can be quite a distance to the closest.

Best Buy is an ideal place to sell iPads, since its a consumer electronics store.... Apple is a consumer electronics company ( these days ).

BTW - Best Buy has been selling iPads for a long time, so only makes sense they sell iPad 2...

    ^^^^ Very true!!

LOL, who do you think the NATO military is? France? Italy? LMAO, don't make me laugh! Massive military spending cuts and downsizing was the first thing Europe did during their financial downturn. They couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag. The US Military -is- the NATO military.

I'm not sure how you can call the iPhone 4 a "POS". I've had all the iPhones and it is MUCH better in about 10 different ways. Don't listen to all the stupid BS about the antenna... I've NEVER had the issue unless I sat they and tried to do it exactly as told. Even then, minimal. iPhone 4 has many more features, and even just the design, makes the previous ones look like toys.

If I were involved in the design and heard comments like that, I'd be offended. Or actually, probably just ignore it, since the person saying that doesn't know what they're saying... sorry to be mean, but I just don't get it.

I could cause the antenna to lose all its bars by placing my one finger on the antenna... Thats ridiculous. And anyone who has one, on the At&T network and says "I've never dropped a call" is a fanboi in the worst way and flat out lying. All my iPhones, - and even non-iPhones - on AT&T's network drop calls period, all the time. Even if the antenna design was perfect on the iPhone 4, it would drop calls because of At&T's network, so yea... I don't believe that in a second.

Not to mention all the problems people were having with the screen, and the proximity sensors... and thats all I can think of off the top of my head. I'm sure there is/was more. Also, I refused to buy another iPhone that didn't have more than 32 GB of space, since I'm currently maxing out the capacity on my current 32 GB iPhone. Thus, I decided not to upgrade to avoid dealing with all that. Really, the 4 was just problems and a few spec increases. The increased resolution of the display means nothing to me without a larger screen, and the 3GS was fast enough at the time. The one and only thing that I would have enjoyed is the bump in RAM.

Also, design-wise, I'd take the original iPhone over any of the others. It's too bad the AL causes havoc with radio signals. I would think someone who supposedly had all the iPhones would agree. And at least not think it looked like a "toy".

Good thing your not a designer, since when you designed crap and people called you out on it you'd be offended. You'd probably not be able to emotionally handle it.

And I 100% know what I'm talking about. Because I have an Anti-Apple opinion doesn't mean I'm ill-informed and I don't know what I'm talking about. I've worked on and dealt with enough electronics to have an informed opinion.

Are you kidding? Netflix destroyed it with streaming. Disney and Sony aren't even advertising for it anymore. The Blu Ray players are being sold dirt cheap at clearance sales because it's a dying/dead format. I haven't heard a word about it on TV ads to further seal the deal.

And I never liked it anyway, the 25 GB disc wasn't filled all the way because of the stupidly lossy compression, and it was expensive. We unplugged our Blu Ray player and replaced it with a TiVo box with Netflix streaming, which happens to be a lot cheaper than Blu Ray and much easier.

And Apple never used it :)

I've noticed many blu ray disks now come with digital copies. I prefer that. One even had a survey asking how important the digital copy was. So perhaps this will be a nice combination for a while.

I ended up getting a PS3 for the blu ray player. For a while it got most usage as a netflix player. Now the appleTV handles that. So occasionally it gets used now for blu ray. I still do not own any games for it. Someday when I have time for it I'll get a game or two. I think if you are getting a blu ray player, PS3 is the way to go though as you can use it for more than just the blu ray.

Wow, not getting updates to your OS for half a decade is now an advantage is it?

And Windows users accuse Mac owners of being delusional!

There are updates, just free. Also, it's nice to be able to have to fiddle with the OS only once every half a decade. Updates don't matter that much, since if you're a mac user and using windows for gaming(and not job work), the windows interface doesn't matter at all. You'd be getting Vista in anticipation of a future laptop with a DX10 graphics card.

The Magic Trackpad rules. Love it. Don't even use the mouse. It seems like you have to move the mouse so far to get it across the screen and with the Magic Trackpad its just gets you around the screen faster.

You can change the tracking settings to make it faster...

As much as im not a fan of the iMacs, the price/performance value is impressive. The 24" on an iMac is a little impractical for me...on a standard display yes ...on an iMac no. If i were to buy one (which i'm tempted to) i'd get the 20" model and max it out. Still i prefer the MacPro. Maybe the family will get one for the new desk in the living area as a central system. Good job Apple, while i knew you'd pick meroms i was hoping you'd go with Conroe especially with a 24" version. Oh well.....

I don't see how adjusting the UI at the last minute could be any sort of OK. Do you really want developers using the Tiger finder for the next 7 months, and then all of the sudden Apple goes BAM (Emeril Style) and puts in a brand new finder.

    a) apple did the exact same thing with OS X. aqua was kept under wraps for a long, long time from the general public and public developers. up until maybe a year before hand we all though OS X was going to look like OS 9.

    b) if you work with big software makers you'll know that top tier developers get access to things that aren't made publicly available months and years in advance. the last alpha/beta cycle i participated in started one month after the latest release (and i was on the second invite list).

I want those developers to be able to integrate the finder with their apps. If all Apple is doing is adjusting some colors or icons or something, then we shouldn't be excited about the new finder in the first place. But if Apple is going to do some major revamping, shame on them for keeping it a secret.

People need time to work with it and find all the kinks, especially if it is dramatically different from Tiger

    a) see above regarding developers. just because we didn't see it in the keynote doesn't mean that the developers haven't

    b) app developers don't really integrate with the finder.

    c) tiger represented a big shift in OS X development. apple publicly stated that their APIs, previously a moving target, were basically being locked down. what that means is developers don't have to worry (as much) about under the hood changes. if the file browser dialog changes dramatically between now and next spring developers should theoretically have to do nothing, their function/method calls are just calls.
